Some things you might want to know about Firefly

How long have you been in business?
Fern Spierer, owner of Firefly has been a mobile DJ since 1984 and I have been running Firefly ever since. I started Firefly because I love to play music, entertain and see people enjoying themselves. I take great pride in my work and strive to make each and every performance my best by offering you personal one-on-one service. Whether playing for a small backyard party or a large formal function, I treat every event with the professional courtesy and attention it deserves

Do you work under contract?
Yes, I conduct my business professionally, and it is important to me that terms of our agreement are clearly defined in writing. I always provide you with a detailed timeline and planner, a list of songs to play and ones that you would prefer we do not play, announcements to be made and other pertinent information for your celebration. This is all included in a contract signed by you and Firefly. I will always check in with you at one month before your wedding to confirm any last minute details and just to see how you are doing.

If I hire you, will you be my DJ?
Firefly is owned and operated by Fern Spierer. I strive to maintain the highest level of quality control and offer superior service with a personal touch. That is why I do not have employees or subcontractors.

Will we meet before my wedding?
My preference is to meet with you at least once before your wedding. Our first meeting should be held at the location of your reception. Although I may have worked in that room dozens of times, this might be your first time there. By meeting at the reception location, we can all visualize how your wedding will be set up and address any concerns you might have. Firefly is available to consult with you throughout the planning process by phone, email or in person.

What type of music do you play?
Whatever you want! This is your day and we want your wedding to reflect your personal taste and style. I will set the tempo and mood for your reception from the moment your guests arrive, right through to the last dance. I meet with you in advance to determine the pace, style and specific requests that are special to you and your fiancé. I play a blend of music specifically crafted for the audience, observing (and hearing) their reaction and changing it when appropriate. This can encompass literally anything, old or new. It could include Big Band, rock, pop, funk ,R&B, reggae, disco or current dance. I enjoy playing music that is not the usual fare at weddings and will have your guests tapping their toes and ready to dance.

Can you provide music for my wedding ceremony?
Absolutely. I can help you choose the appropriate pre-ceremony and ceremony music. Even if you choose to have live music for your ceremony, I suggest that you consider having us provide sound during the ceremony. Without a microphone, it is often difficult to hear the officiant, guests doing special readings and you and your fiancé saying “I Do”. I can provide a simple, non-intrusive sound system no matter where you are saying your vows-in a cornfield, an apple orchard or a hillside under a maple tree.

What if I want a special song that you don’t have?
If you give an advance request for music that I do not own, I will make every effort to obtain it for your wedding. The further in advance I receive the request, the more likely I’ll be able to get it. I can also play music from CD’s supplied by you or your guests.

How much do you charge?
Our wedding prices start at $895.00,however there are several factors to consider. The length of your function, location, amount of equipment needed and other requirements may also affect the price. We prefer to work with you to create a package that best suits your needs. That why I always suggest a face-to-face, no obligation consultation to meet and review.

Will you interact with the guests?
This is up to you. Firefly can be as interactive as you would like. I pride myself on being able to tailor the performance to suit your needs. While audience participation is always recommended as this promotes party fun, if all you wish is some low background music, I can accommodate that as well. Again, it is entirely up to you.

What type of sound system do you use and will it be loud?
I choose a professional sound system to fit the size of the room and the number of guests. Our presentation is always neat, never an eyesore. I will not bring more equipment than necessary and I will always keep the volume during cocktails and dinner at a level to encourage your guests to carry on a conversation.

Do you have insurance?
Yes, I carry $1,000,000 of individual liability coverage
